Hi!👩🏻‍💻

My name is Katherine or you can call me Kat, and I am happy you met me through my work. If you're interested, I'd be happy to share a bit more about myself.

I was born and raised in northeast China, where people are known for their "big hearts". At the age of 13, I moved to Texas, finding a sense of belonging in the hearty city of Allen. It was there that I adopted Fyfy, who was once a stray dog and shares similarly fascinating stories. After completing high school at 18, I ventured to Vancouver alone to pursue design at Emily Carr University. Growing up, drawing was my primary creative outlet, alongside reading, and was an important medium for self-expression. From studying fine art for over 8 years to majoring in interaction design, I've developed a deep love for navigating the intricate relationship between human and digital interactions. In 2003, when my dad bought our family's first computer, I was mesmerized by the possibilities it presented, and I was the first person in my family to learn how to use it. Despite the many technological advancements since then, I've always held onto the profound impact it has in connecting people. This is why I am committed to put people first in my design process. I believe design is a powerful tool that can facilitate change and I hope to design for a better world.

My journey is one of continuous growth and exploration, drawing inspiration from individuals with compelling narratives. I look forward to sharing more of my work and experiences with you.
